Built Because
Jira Fell Short
Atlassian's Issue Collector hasn't evolved in years. No AI. No annotation tools. Not even available for team-managed projects. We built what Jira teams actually need—modern feedback collection with intelligence built in.
Why IssueCapture Exists
In 2017, Atlassian did something that shocked many teams: they handed off Capture for Jira (originally named Bonfire)—their testing and feedback tool—to a third-party company. Rather than invest in making it better, Atlassian essentially abandoned it.
The results speak for themselves. Capture for Jira now has a 1.7 out of 4 star rating on the Atlassian Marketplace. Reviews call it a "dead product with docs not having been updated for years" and users ask "Anyone found an alternative?" The documentation still references Firefox 28—a browser version from 2014. And the pricing? Per Jira user, not per issue—the same unfair model that punishes growing teams.
What about the Jira Issue Collector? It's so limited that thousands of teams can't even use it. If you're using team-managed projects (Jira's modern project type), the Issue Collector simply isn't available. That's not a bug—it's by design.
Even if you can use it, you probably shouldn't. Users have been requesting screenshot annotation since 2013—that's over a decade of ignored requests. There's no AI assistance. No modern customization. Setup requires Jira admin permissions.
Teams using Jira deserve a feedback collection tool that matches the modern software they're building. When Atlassian gave up on Capture for Jira and left the Issue Collector to stagnate, they left a gap that we knew we had to fill.
IssueCapture is what Atlassian should have built—but chose not to.
Simple Setup
One script tag, 2 minutes to integrate. No complex Jira configuration, admin permissions, or IT involvement needed.
AI-Powered Intelligence
10 AI features including automatic triaging, sentiment analysis, duplicate detection, and priority scoring—things Atlassian never built.
Modern Experience
Beautiful UI with screenshot annotation, custom branding, and an experience that users actually enjoy—not the dated modal Atlassian offered.
Today, IssueCapture serves teams of all sizes who refuse to settle for less. We're not just building a feedback tool—we're building the future of how teams understand their users.
The Jira Issue Collector's Fatal Flaws
Atlassian's solution is technically available, but these limitations make it unusable for most modern teams.
Team-Managed? No Access
The Issue Collector only works with "company-managed" (classic) projects. If you're using modern team-managed projects, you simply can't use it at all.
No Screenshot Annotation
Users requested annotation tools in 2013. Over a decade later, still no highlighting, arrows, or blur tools. The feature request remains open.
Zero AI Features
No automatic triaging, sentiment analysis, or duplicate detection. Every issue requires manual processing—costing your team hours of wasted time.
Requires Jira Admin
Setup requires "Administer Jira" global permission. Many developers can't configure it without IT department approval and assistance.
Limited Field Support
Only supports basic field types. No custom field flexibility, no conditional logic, no modern form features that users expect in 2025.
No Custom Branding
Stuck with Jira's default styling. No way to match your brand colors, add your logo, or create a seamless experience that fits your product.
